SONGWRITING AND RECORDING
Jerry has written 17 Gospel songs in the last 5 years, never before having the ability to write songs until he received Salvation just 5 years ago. He has eight CD'S out at this time. Jerry received the prestigious award of "International Songwriter of the Year" in Branson, Missouri in October of 2005, after being chosen "Eastern United States Songwriter of the Year", and "Eastern United States Male Vocalist of the Year" for 2004 and again for 2005. He again received awards for Eastern United States Male Vocalist and Eastern United States Songwriter of the Year in August 2006. These awards were presented to him by the "Country Gospel Music Association", Branson, Missouri.
Jerry's song "Calvary" reached number 4 on the International Country Gospel Chart in May of 2005, having entered the chart in March at number 24. His first CD, "By God's Grace", is a mixture of songs written by him and by others, and includes the first song he wrote titled "God Doesn't Care". This song explains that God will take you just the way you are, it doesn't matter who you are , what you've done, or where you've been. This CD is a lovely mixture of Country Gospel and well known Contemporary music. His second CD, "Country Gospel From the Heart" includes 7 songs written by Jerry, one from a poem written in the fifties by Margaret Wanner, "Cathedral on the Hillside", "Calvary", his number 4 song on the International Country Gospel Chart, "Amazing Grace" which he sings accapela, and Josh Turner's "Long Black Train". His third CD, "By Request", consists of songs loved best by those who have listened to Jerry's music, including "The Old Rugged Cross", which he sings accapella. His fourth CD,"From God to Me to You", includes 14 songs, all Jerry Jones originals. His latest CD, "My Sins Are Gone", includes "Believe" by Brookes and Dunn, "House of Gold", an old Gospel song recorded by Hank Williams, Sr, "God's Soldiers" written by Carol Collins, "Me and God", a Josh Turner favorite, and "My Sins Are Gone" and others written by Jerry. His song "Christmas Time" was number 7 on the Music Review Christmas chart December 2007 and "Read The Word" was number one on the Music Review top 100 Chart, New York,New York, in December, 2007. His new song "Barstools and Church Pews" is scheduled for release early 2008.
